Woodside, James P.

James Posey Woodside (gggrandfather) served as a Lt/Capt. in Co. A 2nd Infantry, 7th Division of MSG. He enlisted at Thomasville, MO Oregon Co. Then went into the regular Confederate army on Feb. 8, 1862 as a Capt. in Co. D 4th Missouri Infantry. He fought at Wilson's Creek (wounded in the left arm), South Fork, Arkansas (thought to have died but didn't), Farmington, Iuka, Corinth (wounded through right hip) and "disabled for field service." He however went on to serve in the Co. D 1st and 4th Missouri Consolidated Infantry at Vicksburg where he surrendered on July 4, 1863. He was also captured at Corinth. He reported as a dispatch bearer to the Blue Mountains and he went to the Retired Invalid Corps on January 21, 1865. He then surrounded on May 11, 1865 at Meridian, Mississippi.
