He served in the Marine Corps. He is buried at Mount Zion Cemetery in Steele, Pemiscot County, Mo.. Sam owned and operated a Trucking company of Steele, Missouri. He was the son of William Buford Dodd and Lida May Douglas Dodd of Steele.
